The head of a company producing Upyr FPV drones in Russia's Sverdlovsk region, Vladimir Tkachuk, has reportedly survived an assassination attempt, 66.RU news portal reports, citing sources in the emergency services.
The incident occurred in the settlement of Bolshoy Istok near Yekaterinburg. A Mercedes carrying Vladimir Tkachuk was blown up.
One person was injured in the explosion. According to the sources, Vladimir Tkachuk, who sustained serious injuries, was admitted to an intensive care unit.
The report says investigators have opened a criminal case on charges of attempted murder committed by a method dangerous to the public. Russian law enforcement authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
Vladimir Tkachuk is the CEO of Uraldronzavod, which manufactures Upyr FPV drones used by the Russian military to destroy armored vehicles. He previously met with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the development of the drone.
