Former First Deputy Head of the General Department of Criminal Intelligence of the Armenian Police, Ovannes Tamamyan, has been arrested, APA reports, citing Armenpress.
He is accused of using violence against a protest participant in Yerevan on March 1, 2008.
Note that on March 1, 2008, clashes broke out in Yerevan between security forces and opposition supporters who did not recognize the results of the presidential election held in February of that year. During the dispersal of mass protests, confrontations occurred, resulting in 10 deaths and hundreds of injuries.
