Russia is ready for dialogue with NATO, but will not tolerate aggression, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a press briefing ahead of the "Valdai" Club meeting, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

Foreign Minister talked about relations with NATO, Ukraine, and the former Soviet republics.

He stated that if NATO or any member state takes aggressive actions against Russia, the response will be adequate, and sitting on the other side of the ocean will not be an option.

According to Lavrov, the Russophobic policy of the US authorities is their domestic and foreign policy: "Moscow considers dialogue with the United States possible, but this dialogue must be on an equal basis. On the condition that America proves in practice that it is genuinely ready for negotiations."

As for the former Soviet republics, Lavrov emphasized that Russia does not exert pressure on the leadership of these republics when making decisions: "For example, this was the case in the situation involving Armenia and Azerbaijan, regarding their decisions on peace."

Lavrov also pointed out that, despite Western attempts to obstruct it, the cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan is successfully developing: "We are also ready to normalize relations with Georgia, and we hope that Moldova will adopt a rational approach, which will prevent the escalation of the conflict in Transnistria."
