Skier Mikael Mikaelyan has been fined by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) for taping the tournament sponsor’s “Azerbaijan” inscription on his uniform during the “Tour de Ski” competitions, APA reports, citing Sputnik-Armenia.
According to reports, the incident occurred at one of the competitions held in Toblach, Italy. In the “Tour de Ski” tournament, in addition to Azerbaijan’s advertisement on the skiers’ uniforms, large advertising boards displaying the country’s name were also placed at the competition venues.
It should be noted that in May of last year, FIS signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with the Azerbaijan State Tourism Agency.
