The first landing of a Russian cosmonaut on the Moon may take place in the period from 2031 to 2040, said Vladimir Solovyov, General Designer for manned space systems and complexes of the Russian Federation, APA reports.
At the conference "Manned Space Flights", he presented a roadmap according to which, in the period from 2031 to 2040, it is planned to create modules for a lunar base and a manned lunar rover, as well as the first landing of Russian cosmonauts on the surface of a natural satellite of the Earth.
At this time, there should be "the beginning of manned expeditions, the consolidation of priority, geological research, the development of elements of the lunar base."
According to the roadmap, from 2041 to 2050, it is expected to build a lunar base, create equipment for drilling and excavation, experimental mining and production complexes, as well as an astrophysical observatory. This is necessary for the extraction and use of oxygen on the Moon, astrophysical and biomedical research and development of production technologies from lunar resources.
After 2050, the resources of the Moon can already be used for deep space exploration. Fuel production and storage complexes, orbital assembly and refueling facilities, as well as a complex for the extraction of rare resources should appear.
Until 2030, the Russian rocket and space industry, according to the roadmap, will be busy sending automatic stations to the Moon, as well as processing the transport system, including a superheavy rocket, take-off and landing cargo ships.
In August, the first Russian lunar station Luna-25 in almost 50 years crashed into the surface of the Moon. The emergency occurred due to the fact that the Luna-25 engine worked 127 seconds instead of 84 when trying to move to a pre-landing orbit.
