Famous Russian actor Mikhail Yefremov, who was sentenced to 8 years in prison for causing a fatal car accident in 2020, will be released early, APA’s Russia bureau reports.
Today the Belgorod court considered the actor’s petition for early conditional release and accepted it.
It should be noted that in June 2020, M. Yefremov caused a fatal road accident in the “Sadovoe Koltso” area of Moscow.
The “Jeep Grand Cherokee” vehicle driven by the actor crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a “Lada” car. As a result, the driver of the “Lada” sustained a traumatic brain injury and died. An expert examination determined that the actor was intoxicated.
The Moscow Presnensky District Court sentenced the famous actor to 8 years of imprisonment for causing a fatal road accident while intoxicated.
M. Yefremov’s lawyer was Azerbaijani Elman Pashayev. Despite repeatedly petitioning during the trial that the actor was not behind the wheel and claiming the existence of a witness, the court did not grant the petition.
