Drone attack on chemical plant in Russia leaves seven dead, ten injured - UPDATED

Seven people have been killed and ten others injured as a result of a drone attack on a chemical plant in Russia that produces concentrates for the manufacture of explosives, said the Governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, APA reports.

Anokhin noted that an evacuation may be announced in the region following the attack on the plant.

The governor emphasized that specialists from relevant agencies will be involved to assess the consequences of the situation.

At least four people have been killed as a result of a drone attack on a fertilizer plant in the Smolensk region of Russia, APA’s Russia bureau reports, citing local media.

The UAV attack occurred at around 6:00 a.m. in the Dorogobuzh district, where the plant is located.

Four people were killed, three of whom were rescuers. Another four people with serious injuries have been hospitalized in the regional hospital.

Firefighters continue to extinguish the fire at the scene.

In total, it was reported that Russia’s air defense forces repelled attacks by 69 Ukrainian drones across the country overnight.

It was noted that 14 of the UAVs were shot down in the Smolensk region.
