The death of Major General Anton Grunis, who reported the capture of Kostiantynivka to Russian President Vladimir Putin, has been officially confirmed, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

Apti Alaudinov, Deputy Head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces and commander of the Akhmat special forces unit, confirmed Grunis's death.

Major General of the Russian Armed Forces, Hero of Russia and commander of the 4th Separate Guards Motor Rifle Brigade, Anton Grunis, has been killed in Ukraine, Lenta.ru reports, citing military journalist Yuri Kotenok.

According to him, Grunis is believed to have died as a result of a strike by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Grunis was appointed commander of the 4th Brigade in May 2023 and participated in battles in the Bakhmut direction. He was awarded the title of Hero of Russia on August 28.

According to Ukrainian media, Anton Grunis reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin in July this year that the settlement of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region had been brought under full control.
