Russia and Iran will begin construction of the Rasht–Astara railway project on April 1, said Russia’s Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
He noted that the parties have managed to resolve all disputed issues that had delayed the launch of the project.
According to Tsivilev, Russia and Iran have settled almost all matters related to the railway construction as part of the North–South Transport Corridor, including land acquisition and concession issues: “The parties are currently discussing the prospects for Russian companies to participate in projects for the construction of solar and wind power plants in Iran.”
