The cause of the explosion at a military unit in Russia’s Vladimir region has been identified as a fire triggered by safety violations, APA reports, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.

The blaze ignited stored ammunition, leading to detonations. Firefighters from the military unit and the Emergency Ministry were deployed to contain the incident. Authorities confirmed the fire has now been extinguished.

Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.

Following the blasts, residents from seven nearby settlements—located within a 5-kilometer radius—have been evacuated.
