A lieutenant general was killed in a car explosion in the city of Balashikha in Russia’s Moscow Region, APA’s Russia bureau reports.
According to local media, sources from the websites VChK-OGPU and Rucriminal.info said the deceased held the rank of lieutenant general.
The bomb had been planted in a BMW vehicle and exploded while the car was in motion.

The explosion occurred at around 05:30 a.m.
According to witnesses, the vehicle exploded when the driver started the engine of a BMW X3.
Witnesses managed to pull the driver out of the burning vehicle, but he later died.
Russia's Investigative Committee has launched a criminal case, and an investigation is underway.
