A physical altercation broke out among lawmakers during a regular session of the Armenian parliament, Armenian media reports.
The incident occurred after the speech of Edgar Ghazaryan, an MP from the opposition Strong Armenia faction, was cut short by parliament speaker Ruben Rubinyan.
According to reports, after a brief argument with Rubinyan, Ghazaryan stepped down from the podium and returned to his seat. At that moment, Vahe Ghalumyan, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract faction, approached him and attempted to continue the dispute.
Ghazaryan’s faction colleague Vazinak Vartanov blocked Ghalumyan’s way. A confrontation then broke out between the lawmakers, with other members of parliament also becoming involved in the incident.
Following the altercation, Ruben Rubinyan announced a break in the session.
