President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko supports the proposal of his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on holding an international summit in Minsk with Russian President Vladimir Putin and leaders of several other countries, APA reports citing Unian.
"Our president absolutely supports the proposals voiced by Volodymyr Zelensky," reads a statement by the press service of the President of Belarus.
"This position remains unchanged – and it lies in the fact that you cannot look at each other through the sights of your guns, you need to sit down and solve problems that have accumulated," the statement says.
Commenting on the venue of the summit, the press service said that "there can be no two opinions at all: the war is on our doorstep, and Minsk has always considered and still considers it an honor to be a platform for peace initiatives and negotiations."
Also, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said that Minsk was ready to host such high-level talks.
