Azerbaijani President's Representative on Special Assignments meets with Russian FM

Khalaf Khalafov, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, APA’s Moscow correspondent reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The two sides exchanged views on the development prospects of Russia-Azerbaijan relations in the context of strategic partnership and alliance. A number of current international and regional issues were also discussed.

A number of pressing international and regional issues were addressed.

In addition, the meeting revised the key topics on the agenda of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), as well as the tasks for joint work during Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the platform in 2025–2026, including in the context of integrating the organization into the overall system of multilateral cooperation in the Eurasian space.

Khalaf Khalafov also held a separate meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko. During that meeting, the sides held detailed discussions on ways to intensify the practical activities of CICA across various dimensions of cooperation, including issues of interaction in the Caspian region.
