At least 50 people have been hospitalized with food poisoning in Yakutia, APA reports, citing local media.

Poisoning occurred during a holiday celebration

The poisoning occurred during the Isıakh Olonkho holiday celebration, which was attended by nearly 15,000 guests, including 1,500 organizers such as journalists, artists, sports referees, and volunteers.

Many participants were housed in schools and ate at local canteens, where they were served porridge, cutlets, mashed potatoes, fish, soup, pilaf, and compote. Shortly after the festival, many began feeling unwell. Suspicion has fallen on the chicken cutlets served at the event.

Tests showed salmonellosis

Medical tests have confirmed the presence of salmonellosis. The poultry farm that supplied the products had previously been fined last year for salmonella contamination in semi-finished goods.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
