The preliminary investigation into the criminal case involving former Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, former Environment Minister Artsvik Minasyan, and four other accused individuals in Armenia has been completed, the country's Investigative Committee said in a statement, APA reports citing Armenian media.

According to the information, when Seyran Ohanyan was appointed to the position in 2021, he deliberately concealed information in his income declaration about a 10,526-square-meter plot of land and the buildings constructed on that land that belonged to him.

In addition, he entered into criminal collusion with the former head of the Construction and Housing Department of the Armenian Ministry of Defense and other individuals, illegally seized land belonging to the ministry, and carried out unauthorized construction work on that land for the needs of his family.

The investigation revealed that these illegal construction works were carried out with the participation of a company owned by the former head of the Production and Technical Department of the mentioned agency.

According to the investigation, Seyran Ohanyan ordered the preparation of fake lease documents to give a legal appearance to his illegal activities and, as a result, had property built for himself and his family on a state-protected area.

It was noted that these illegal actions led to the embezzlement of budget funds and caused significant material damage to the state.
