Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has addressed the followers of the Apostolic Church regarding the election of a new Catholicos, APA reports citing Armenian media.

The address emphasized the necessity of creating a Coordination Group to resolve organizational issues related to the elections.

Pashinyan stated that active steps must be taken to vacate the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and to organize the election of a new Catholicos, and at the current stage, a Coordination Group should be formed to resolve the organizational issues concerning the aforementioned agenda.

"The members of the Coordination Group may include both men and women, both clergy and laypersons. However, it is important that the clergy, especially those committed to monastic life, have not violated their vow of celibacy," the address noted.

Note that in recent days, Nikol Pashinyan has made posts on social media claiming that Garegin II has violated his voluntary vow of celibacy and has a child.
