Former Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, MP from the opposition "Armenia" faction, Armen Gevorkian, is accused of laundering 5 billion drams (approximately 13 million US dollars), the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia said, APA reports, citing Armenia Today.
It was reported that Gevorkian legalized a large amount of illegal income he obtained between 2000 and 2018. At the same time, 39 real estate properties worth 10 million 462 thousand US dollars in the capital Yerevan and surrounding areas were directly registered in his name and those of his close relatives.
During the investigation, it was revealed that 10 objects worth 920 thousand dollars were registered in the name of the former official in the Czech Republic.
Note that Gevorkian was represented in the government during the tenure of former Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan in 2008-2014.
