Funds worth approximately $205,000 related to a land purchase deal involving Armenia’s then Defense Minister Serzh Sargsyan in 2006 will be confiscated in favor of the state, the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
According to the information, the Anti-Corruption Court granted another motion submitted by the Department for the Protection of State Interests on February 27.
The court declared invalid a land sale agreement signed on March 3, 2006, between Serzh Sargsyan and a closed joint-stock company involving a 0.17-hectare land plot located in Yerevan.
According to the decision, since the return of the land plot is not possible, its value — 78.86 million drams (approximately $205,000) — will be recovered from the company in favor of the state.
