Armenian authorities began pressures on opposition candidates regarding with elections for post of mayor of Gyumri

Three days before the mayoral elections in Gyumri city of Armenia, the authorities are applying intense pressure on opposition candidates, APA reports.

Law enforcement agencies raided the election headquarters of Martun Grigoryan, a candidate for the Gyumri mayoralty and a MP from the "My Honor" faction.

This was said by lawyer Arsen Babayan on social media.

According to the information, searches are being conducted in Grigoryan's offices.

It was also revealed that law enforcement agencies had inspected at the "Mother Armenia" opposition bloc's office in Gyumri. The bloc's candidate for the Gyumri mayor's post, Emma Grigoryan, was taken to the Anti-Corruption Committee in Gyumri, where investigations were initiated regarding electoral bribery to voters related to the upcoming elections.

The leader of the "Mother Armenia" bloc, Andranik Tevanyan, called this political persecution and condemned the actions of the authorities.

Note that the early elections in Gyumri will be held on March 30.
