Armenia’s Ambassador to Russia, Gurgen Arsenyan, has filed a lawsuit with the Administrative Court against the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ (MIA) intention to confiscate his personal firearms, APA reports, citing the “Armlur” publication.
According to the information, the diplomat has lodged a claim challenging the MIA’s demand to confiscate or render unusable three firearms — pistols of the “Walther,” “Beretta-92,” and “Glock 42” brands.
It was noted that the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs has recently been closely reviewing firearms permits issued to citizens in various years, particularly to high-ranking officials. Within this framework, in some cases firearms are being confiscated or taken out of service.
No additional official statements on the matter have been issued so far.
