Armenian accused of murdering Russian general sentenced to 25 years in prison

A 30-year-old Uzbek national, Ahmadjon Kurbonov, accused of carrying out the terrorist attack that killed Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, head of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces, has been sentenced to life imprisonment, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

The court also fined Kurbonov 1 million rubles in connection with the general’s murder.

In the case concerning the terrorist attack committed on December 17, 2024, the court sentenced three other defendants to prison terms of 25, 22, and 18 years.

Moscow’s military court sentenced Batuhan Tochiev and Ramazan Padiyev, who had rented an apartment to Kurbonov, to 22 and 18 years in prison, respectively, while Armenian national Robert Safaryan, who stored bomb components in his home, was sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment.

Note that the killing of Igor Kirillov and his aide occurred in December 2024. A bomb planted on a scooter parked near the general’s residence exploded as they were leaving the entrance of the building.
