The second program for extending the operational lifespan of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) will be launched in the near future, Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, David Khudatyan, said in an interview with Armenpress, APA reports.
The minister said that as a result, the Metsamor NPP will operate until 2036.
According to David Khudatyan, it is technically possible to keep the Metsamor NPP in Armenia’s energy system until 2046, but the government will do everything possible to ensure that this is not necessary.
