"The restriction of foreign TV channels' broadcasting on the country's public multiplex is essential," said Tigran Akopyan, Chairman of the National Commission on Television and Radio of the Republic of Armenia, APA reports, citing TASS.
According to him, the decision by official Yerevan to grant local broadcasters access to the country's multiplex has caused tension between Armenia and Russia.
"Now, the French side is requesting broadcasting frequencies for their own TV channels. I believe it is crucial to limit the broadcasting of foreign television channels on the public multiplex," he added.
It is noteworthy that currently, only Russian television channels are broadcasted on Armenia's public multiplex.
