Extraordinary parliamentary elections may be held in Armenia next year and there is an active discussion about this in the country's political circles, APA reports citing "Hraparak" publication.

According to the publication, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan threatened that the current parliamentary opposition will "achieve its goal" at one of the last meetings of the board of the "Civil Contract" party.

"Pashinyan stated that he will hold new elections, change the current landscape of the parliament and bring the parliamentary opposition into a completely new form," the publication said.

"It is not ruled out in political circles that Pashinyan, once again using his administrative resources to strengthen his mandate, may take such a decisive step and go to early elections," the publication added.

Note that the purpose of taking this step is to catch the political forces unprepared and not allow a new opposition to emerge.
