Armenia launches wave of mass arrests-UPDATED-1

In Armenia, criminal cases have been opened against two of the 11 people suspected of attracting people to the rallies of the Tavush for the Motherland movement led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan in exchange for financial interest, Investigative Committee of Armenia released information in this regard, APA reports citing Sputnik-Armenia.

During the initial investigation, it was revealed that each of the individuals suspected of organizing the rallies was providing financial amounts ranging from 10 to 30 US dollars to those they invited to the rallies.

It is noted that the operative-investigative measures related to the fact are currently being continued.

In Yerevan, 11 people suspected of organizing rallies of the Tavush for the Motherland movement, led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, have been arrested on charges related to inciting mass gatherings for financial gain, Investigative Committee of Armenia released information in this regard, APA reports citing Sputnik-Armenia.

It is reported that discussions have taken place on social network accounts created for this purpose, aiming to incite individuals to participate in mass protest actions and provide them with various amounts of money in return.

The information also states that these posts were continuously made from May 25 to June 6, and the matter was discussed both in phone conversations and during meetings at the office of the Dashnaktsutyun party.

At the same time, it was determined during the investigation that certain discussions took place among the local leaders of the mentioned party's organizations regarding the organization of people's participation in rallies on those dates.

A wave of mass arrests has been launched in Armenia since this morning, in a Facebook post, Armenian lawyer Ruben Melikyan wrote about the mass arrests taking place in the country, APA reports citing ABC Media.

“The regime launched a wave of mass arrests in the morning: Martuni, Gavar, Vanadzor, Ujan, Yerevan…” Melikyan wrote.
