Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in a closed meeting with deputies of the Civil Contract that his country should apply for membership of the European Union (EU) by autumn at the latest, "Hraparak" published information in this regard, APA reports.

According to the newspaper, the meeting was held on March 1, 2024, in the parliament. Ministers and the Secretary of the Security Council also attended the meeting.

Pashinyan clearly emphasized that the West demands Armenia to take practical measures to expel Russia from the region, and there is no other option but to carry out these demands with the current circumstances.

"Pashinyan believes that Armenia's security interests require it to be a candidate for EU membership. If not militarily, at least economically, this will allow Armenia to strengthen," the newspaper notes.
