Armenia and the United States are preparing an intergovernmental agreement on the TRIPP project, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told journalists, News.am reports.
According to him, negotiations on the TRIPP project between Armenia and the US are ongoing without interruption and progressing naturally.
“The first step was the announcement of the project in August. The second step was the achievement, publication, and implementation process of a large-scale agreement on January 14. The next step will be the signing of an intergovernmental agreement, which will include legal mechanisms. Work on the document is currently underway,” the minister said.
Touching upon Iran’s position, Mirzoyan noted that the Armenian side has informed Tehran, and Iranian officials have stated that they have no concerns.
“We are only discussing a transport project. This project will create economic opportunities for Armenia, Azerbaijan, and all neighboring countries, including Iran,” he added.
He also emphasized that the US cannot sell its share in the TRIPP project without Armenia’s consent.
