Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a phone conversation, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.
The phone call took place at the initiative of the Iranian side.
Abbas Araghchi provided information about the steps taken by the Iranian leadership to repel the aggression of the United States and Israel.
He stated that this attack once again disrupted negotiations aimed at a peaceful resolution of issues related to Iran’s nuclear program.
Araghchi announced plans to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
Sergey Lavrov, in turn, condemned the unprovoked armed attack by the US and Israel against Iran, which violates the principles and norms of international law and completely disregards the grave consequences for regional and global stability and security.
The Russian foreign minister emphasized the importance of immediately halting attacks against the Islamic Republic and returning the situation to a political and diplomatic settlement.
Sergey Lavrov noted that Russia is ready, including within the framework of the UN Security Council, to facilitate the search for peaceful solutions based on international law, mutual respect, and a balance of interests.
