Another worker's body has been found following the collapse of a mine in Kazakhstan, APA reports citing TASS.

Rescuers have found the bodies of six miners who died while clearing the rubble of a collapsed mine in the Ulytau region of Kazakhstan, and the search for another is ongoing.

APA reports that the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported this.

"During search and rescue operations, a group of rescuers discovered the bodies of six employees of Kazakhmys Corporation LLC. Their identities are being determined. An investigation is currently underway to clarify all the circumstances of the incident. The search for the seventh person is ongoing," the statement said.

Seven workers are trapped inside an underground shaft at Zhomart mine in Ulytau region, Kazakhstan, APA reports citing Kazinform News Agency.

There has no information so far on the condition of those trapped, according to the country’s Emergency Situations Ministry.

The incident occurred at around 4:50pm local time 150km away from Zhezkazgan town.

The personnel of the Ulytau and Karaganda regions’ emergency situations ministries, consisting of canine teams, specialists from the Disaster Medicine Center and psychologists, left for the incident site.

Operations centers have been set up at the Command Center of the Emergency Situations Ministry and the Emergency Situations Department.
