Armenian law enforcement authorities have decided to detain Archbishop Mikael Ajapakhyan, head of the Shirak Diocese, said lawyer Ara Zohrabyan, APA reports citing Sputnik Armenia.
It was reported that Mikael Ajapakhyan has been summoned to the Investigative Committee, and a motion for his arrest will be submitted to the court.
As a reminder, on June 25, Armenia’s Investigative Committee announced that an attempted act of terrorism and power seizure had been prevented. The “Holy Struggle” movement, led by Archbishop Vazgen Galstanyan (Bagrat), was accused of terrorism and an attempt to seize power. On the same day, Bagrat Galstanyan was detained. On June 26, arrest motions were filed for him and 16 members of the movement. They have been placed in pre-trial detention for two months.
