6.4 magnitude earthquake jolts Altai Republic

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred in the Altai Republic on the border of Russia and Mongolia, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the region reported in Telegram-channel on February 15, APA reports citing Izvestiya.

It is specified that the earthquake took place at 8:48 local time (4:48 Moscow time) in Kosh-Agach district.

At the same time, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC-CSEM) specified that the epicenter was located 29 km from the village of Kosh-Agach. Focal point of the earthquake was located at a depth of 1 km.

Note that on February 13 it was reported that an earthquake with magnitude 4.4 occurred in Sochi. As told in the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, seismic event was registered at a depth of 10 km, at a distance of 8 km east of the village Solokhaul in the mountains.
