The Internal Security Agency of Poland has detained 16 people connected to Russian intelligence, APA reports citing Ukrinform.

This was announced by the Deputy Minister-Coordinator of Special Services of Poland Stanisław Żaryn, Ukrinform reported citing Polish Radio.

"The agency managed not only to detect and detain spies but also to investigate and identify the modus operandi that Russians use in this type of activity against Poland," Żaryn said.

According to him, Polish counterintelligence is working very effectively, but it is not time to stop.

"Our counterintelligence manages to effectively find out how the Russians operate, and this is definitely a great success of our services. But, unfortunately, it is too early to rest on our laurels. The Russians are still looking for ways to destabilize and weaken Poland," emphasized Żaryn.

The Ministry of National Defense of Poland has reported that additional military units will be sent to the Polish-Belarusian border to strengthen security.

As reported, the commander of the Polish State Border Guard Service, Major General Tomasz Praga, asked the Polish Ministry of Defense to redeploy another thousand soldiers to the Polish-Belarusian border.
