13-year-old student detained after stabbing janitor in Tatarstan school

In the city of Nizhnekamsk, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, a 13-year-old boy attacked a lyceum, APA’s Russia bureau reports.

The seventh-grade student, a teenager named Danis, stabbed a school janitor.

The student has been detained. A knife, a mask, and tactical gloves were found on him.

It has been revealed that the person who attacked the lyceum admired terrorism and had planned a possible attack on the school in advance. Russian media reports that the 13-year-old’s social media accounts were full of references to criminals who had attacked educational or religious institutions.

One of Danis’s accounts was named after a mass shooting that occurred in the U.S. in 2022. His social media accounts also contained references to other attacks on schools in Russia and to nationalist symbols.

According to relatives who know the seventh-grade student, speaking to “Baza,” Danis had shown interest in weapons and terrorism since the sixth grade. Later, he hinted that he might carry out an attack on the school himself. However, no one took his words seriously.
