Law Policy and State Building, Human Rights and Social Policy Commissions of Milli Majlis hold joint meeting

Permanent Commissions on Law Policy and State Building, Human Rights and Social Policy of Milli Majlis held joint meeting, APA reports. The meeting discussed law on â€œsocial rehabilitation of released prisoners from penitentiary institutionsâ€?. Parliamentarian Elmira Akhundova stressed that the released prisoners can not adapt to the society.
â€œFormer prisoners face difficulties which make them return back to jail. Every year approximately 2-4 000 prisoners are released from the jails and nearly 1000 of them return back committing crimes again. Establishment of social rehabilitation centers is important in this case,â€? she said.
The chief of commission on human rights Rabiyyet Aslanova stressed the importance of adoption of this law.
After the discussion the draft law was submitted to the parliament. /APA/
