“The results of the match with Azerbaijan could have been better,” said Croatia’s President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, ONA reports.
President Grabar-Kitarovic, who watched the Croatia-Azerbaijan qualifier at the Euro 2020, commented on the match that ended with a 2-1 win of the Croatian side.
“It is the first game of the qualifying round. Therefore, everything is all right,” she said.
“Everybody saw that our players dominated the pitch. But we did not take advantage of opportunities. The opponent scored in one of two chances. We had many players in defense and midfield, though the game passed in the opponent’s part of the pitch.”
She believes the Croatian side should play more aggressively.
The Croatian president also said she will watch the national team’s next match against Hungary at the stadium in Budapest.
