Middle-age cultural monuments found in Azerbaijan’s Barda City

Officials of Ganja Archeology and Ethnography Department continue excavation works carried out by Professor Alem Nuriyev in 1985-89, Professor Arif Mammadov, head of Barda Archeology Expedition told APA Karabakh bureau.Middle-age district of craftsmen has been found in Barda Region during excavation. Pottery, mint, ancient stirs, IX-XIV century–cultural monuments have been found in the district. Big pitchers (11-13 centuries), pails (12-13 centuries), basins (14 century) have been found. Mammamdov noted that investigations showed that Barda was not situated at present place in the IX century. The ancient city was situated in Shortepe Settlement near Shatirli village. After separation of Shortepe by Arabs, Barda has been transferred to the current place. 40-hectare territory includes Barda Diagnostic Center and Barda Trade Center.
