A 5.6-magnitude earthquake has struck Indonesia’s Sumatra island, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.

The quake’s epicentre was located about 221 kilometres south-west of the city of Padangsidempuan in North Sumatra province, at a depth of 37 kilometres.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

No tsunami warning has been issued following the earthquake.
