Türkiye’s Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler has stated that a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) shot down by Turkish Air Force F-16 jets on December 15 went out of control and entered Turkish territory, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
The minister noted that investigations into the UAV are ongoing:
“On December 15, the UAV that was shot down by our F-16 aircraft was an aerial vehicle that was difficult to detect. I would like to thank our personnel who detected it in a timely manner. Due to the Russia–Ukraine war, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned surface vessels (USVs) are being used intensively in the Black Sea. The UAV we shot down was also an aerial vehicle that had gone out of control,” the minister said.
It was noted that after the UAV’s debris is found, a detailed investigation will be carried out and the results will be announced to the public.
