Former Chairman of Türkiye's Republican People's Party (CHP) Özgür Özel and 91 lawmakers supporting him have resigned from the party, NTV reports.
Özgür Özel announced his resignation at a press conference held at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
It was reported that the 91 lawmakers who resigned will be among the founders of a new political party.
Özel said the technical registration of the new party is being carried out with the participation of the lawmakers, while its political activities will officially begin in August or September.
It should be noted that a wave of resignations has swept through the CHP in recent days following Özgür Özel's announcement that he would establish a new political party.
