Eight students were injured in a stabbing attack at a school in Istanbul’s Basaksehir district, Anadolu Agency reports.
The incident occurred on October 6 at Şeyh Şamil İmam Hatip Middle School in the Kayaşehir area.
According to the report, a 15-year-old female student who attends another school came to the school and attacked other students with a knife. Eight students were injured in the incident and taken to hospital.
According to a statement by Basaksehir District Governor Cemil Özgür Öneği, seven of those injured are female students. Three of them are reported to be in serious condition.
Turkish Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu said that all eight injured students are still receiving treatment, with one in critical condition and two in moderately serious condition.
The 15-year-old girl suspected of carrying out the attack was detained by police. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
