Kazakhistan removes Taliban from the list of banned organizations

The Kazakh authorities have decided to exclude the Taliban from the list of prohibited organizations, Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aibek Smadiyarov spoke about this in an interview with Kazinform, APA reports.

Smadiyarov noted that Kazakhstan regularly reviews the national list of banned terrorist organizations: "As part of this process, a decision was made to exclude the Taliban movement from it by UN practice. Thus, by UN Security Council resolutions that are mandatory execution, the Taliban movement is not included in the lists of organizations recognized as terrorist by the UN Security Council,” explained.

The official representative of the Foreign Ministry also answered how diplomatic contacts between Kazakhstan and the Taliban will develop: “Concerning political contacts, I would like to emphasize that Kazakhstan will continue to strictly adhere to the decisions and resolutions adopted by the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.”
