According to the initial information available to Israel, the pilot's apparent intention was to crash the aircraft with its passengers on board.
Israeli passengers acted with extraordinary courage. Realizing what was happening, they entered the cockpit, confronted and overpowered the pilot, and helped return control of the aircraft to an alternate flight crew who were also on the flight," noted in information.
