The incident aboard a flydubai plane was an attempted terror attack, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said, The Times of Israel said, APA reports.
“The serious incident aboard the flydubai plane was an attempted terror attack. It was prevented only thanks to the courage of several Israeli passengers. They entered the cockpit, neutralized the terrorist and, with their own hands, returned control of the plane to other flight crew members who were there,” Katz said.
The co-pilot of the Dubai-Tel Aviv flight is believed to have stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the plane. The aircraft later made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.
“According to the preliminary information we have, the terrorist had one goal: to crash the plane with all the passengers on board,” the defense minister added.
According to Israeli media, Mossad, Shin Bet, the Israel Defense Forces and the Ministry of Transport have also been involved in investigating the incident.
