Speaking to Tasnim about the new bill concerning the Strait of Hormuz, Qashqavi said that under the draft legislation, Iranian management will be applied in the strait, and Iran’s decision-making and management capabilities will be almost fully preserved at both the entrance and exit of the strait.
He added that Iran will also collect fees related to environmental protection, navigation, fuel and other matters.
Qashqavi noted that ships belonging to Israel and countries in confrontation with Iran, as well as vessels carrying out military operations against Iran or transporting military cargo, will not be allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
He stressed that other vessels belonging to countries not in confrontation with Iran will be required to obtain permission from the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces in accordance with the rules stipulated by the law.
Qashqavi added that under the bill, the correct name “Persian Gulf” must be used in all documents and negotiations.
He said the bill is currently awaiting consideration at a plenary session of parliament and that the legislative process concerning it has been completed at the commission level.
