Iran sought understanding and the resolution of disputes through engagement and negotiations but would continue firmly resisting economic pressure, President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday, Iran International reports.
Pezeshkian said measures prepared by his government’s economic officials would prevent Washington from achieving its aims.
“Just as the United States failed to achieve anything in the war because of the bravery of the armed forces and the support of the people, it will also gain nothing through economic pressure at this stage,” he said.
He also defended supporters of the Tehran-Washington memorandum of understanding, rejecting accusations that they had capitulated.
“Those who defended the Islamabad memorandum of understanding care about the country’s dignity and pride. They are not capitulators; they have been present on the battlefield and have put their lives on the line,” he said.
