Iranian parliament speaker and top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf accused US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent of lying over the economic impact of the Iran war and Washington’s blockade, APA reports.
“Liar liar pants on fire,” Ghalibaf wrote in a post on X on Saturday, quoting a Bessent post that said the blockade and Operation Economic Outcast would “crush the failing Iranian economy” and that the United States had guided 130 million barrels out over the previous 14 days while Iran exported none.
“For real 130s, tell your staffer to pull Moody’s showing $130+ billion in war costs, and ask another how much Jane Street burned north of $130 million shorting oil for you in just one futures roll,” Ghalibaf wrote.
