Brigadier General Alireza Afshar, one of the former leaders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC/SEPAH) and former commander of the Basij Resistance Forces, has died, APA reports citing Iranian media.
He passed away from a heart attack.
Note that Afshar served as one of the IRGC commanders during the Iran-Iraq War between 1980-1988. He was also among the students who took over the U.S Embassy in Tehran in 1979.
