A photo exhibition titled “Western Azerbaijan in our cultural memory” has opened in the center of Warsaw, Poland, at Twardowski Square, organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Poland, APA reports, citing Western Azerbaijan Community.
The opening ceremony was attended by Nargiz Gurbanova, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Poland, and Qaya Mammadov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Western Azerbaijan Community and Member of Parliament.
During her speech, Ambassador Nargiz Gurbanova provided detailed information about the history of Western Azerbaijan, the ethnic cleansing of its people, and the destruction of its cultural heritage.
Qaya Mammadov, Deputy Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community, emphasized that cultural heritage is a universal value, and the world community should not remain indifferent to the destruction of Azerbaijan's cultural heritage in the present-day territory of Armenia. He also mentioned that the Western Azerbaijan Community strives to achieve a peaceful return and called on world states to support this just cause, as well as the restoration and preservation of Western Azerbaijan's cultural heritage.
The opening ceremony was attended by heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Poland, as well as scholars, cultural and art figures, representatives of religious communities, and active members of the Azerbaijani diaspora.
The exhibition features photos reflecting the rich heritage of Western Azerbaijan, including copies of historical documents, photos of famous cultural figures from Western Azerbaijan, depictions of their creative works, scenes of deportation, and photos of destroyed monuments. The exhibition will remain open until April 28, 2025.
