Baku-APA. The UN Security Council has opened its meeting on Ukraine with a minute of silence for the Boeing 777 victims, APA reports quoting ITAR-TASS.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Rwanda’s Ambassador Eugene-Richard Gasana, who is presiding over the Security Council in July, presented his condolences in connection with the tragedy.

Jeffrey Feltman, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, said it was outrageous that dozens of children had been onboard of the ill-fated Malaysian Airlines plane.

Prior to the meeting, the United Nations Security Council adopted a statement for the press in which it called for full and thorough investigation into the air crash.

The Security Council members also demanded that the parties in conflict immediately provide access to the crash site for investigators.
